La Granja

At church, the couple missionaries told us about this fountain place.  Clayton didn't know about it because he had served in this area during the winter.  It is an all natural water fountain show.  They build this castle and the water system maybe in the 1700s and it is still working today.  They build mini reservoirs on the hill and then at 5:30 on certain evenings they open the pipes and let everyone watch.  I couldn't believe how many different fountains ran and how high they went.  Super awesome. This was my favorite part of the trip.

We had to take a bus to get there (about 20 min away). And it was raining a little bit.  It was a great adventure.

I was eating this Donor Kebap sandwich thing and I got in trouble from the guy.  I understood that in Spanish.  Little bit embarrassing.

The property was enormous and they let you wander around and look at things for however long you wanted.  They had extra pools and water fountains all over the grounds.

Houses for the swans

Clayton, in one of the doors to the labyrinth.  They had a real live labyrinth.  How sweet is that?

This is the garden area

I didn't ever want to leave this place but we had to catch our bus so we waited until the last possible second and then had to run to catch the bus in the pouring rain.  Awesome.

Segovia Cathedral

After we went to church on Sunday, we walked through the cathedral.  What a contrast, need I say more?  Cool building though with lots of history.

Don't worry, I always have my trusty yogurt.  Keeps the nausea away.

Super old music sheets.  From the 1600s I believe.

Scriptures in gold.  This would have been painstaking work.  I'm glad they didn't ask me to do it.  Although I seem to remember doing this in elementary school.

Cool.

Toledo

After we walked through the city, on the outskirts we found these ruins of a Roman Bath House.  Super cool.

What up girl?

We should have brought a lock.  These were all along the wall of the bridge.  You throw your key into the river.  One day we'll have to go back and leave ours.

Salamanca

This is our super sweet hotel that looked out over the street.

We were walking down the street on the sidewalk and all of a sudden I was drenched in water.  Since I was already hyperemotional (pregnancy) and we had been in what you might call a squabble that morning, my reaction was immediate bursting into tears.  Pathetic I know.  A man and a woman from opposite sides of the street came running over to help me.  Clayton was trying to find out which apartment it came from so he could yell at the punk kids.  Meanwhile those two nice Spaniards were saying all sorts of things to me in Spanish.  I just looked at them and through my tears said, "I don't even speak Spanish."  It was quite the event.  But of course it's funny now.

We walked to a grocery store and got these drinkable yogurts, some other snacks, and tissues for our crazy allergies.  Then we walked over the river.  It was really pretty but the water was some sort of a nasty color.  Not quite sure what was in there.  Thus the face.

That evening we dressed up and went on a dinner date.  I asked for water and they brought me this fancy glass bottle of water.  Clayton was kind enough to pour it for me.

German market.  Shout out to my Dad.

"No se come sin pan"

Back to our hotel again.  We walked everywhere.  It was so much fun.  What a great night.
