Day 2

We woke up in the morning to about six inches of snow on the back porch. It was gorgeous

We headed into the park for a day of hiking and here is a waterfall off the side of the road.

Anna seemed like she was ready to go and ready to love it.

...however at about this point we decided maybe she's just not the hiking type. She gets that from her dad.

Happiness

We heard that Half Dome is the best hike to do in the park however it was closed because of snow and ice so we'll head back one day closer to the summer to try again but this hike up to a lake was close enough for us. The view was awesome. And this is a picture of Half Dome from the lake.

We headed home for dinner just in time. Good thing we had taken our chains along because they shut down the road and wouldn't let anyone out of the park without chains. It was quite the adventure but the roads actually didn't need chains, they weren't really that bad. But the decision wasn't up to us so we put them on and headed home to a nice crockpot meal.

The Giant Sequoias

We went on a hike through the Giant Sequoias and Anna was not happy. Her and Hadley kept taking turns screaming and nothing would make them happy. However, as we set her down at the end of the trip, this was the look on her face. How can you be mad at that?

They had this road closed for the winter. The reason? I guess we'll never know, but it was longer than the hike through the trees that is for sure. Oh well, it was worth it.

I can't remember the details but we read about why they don't burn. Many of them have been through some intense fires and they hold up just fine. I think it's something about the moisture in the bark.

This was Anna crying. We had to document it for blackmail purposes in the future.

Some people cut this hole in the tree years and years ago and they drove cars through it in the 40s or something. Who knows why but it sure looked really cool.

Here is a tree that had toppled for some reason. Can you believe those roots?

Yosemite trip

Ok so I'm posting a little bit behind but I'll try to catch up. Here are the pictures from our Yosemite trip in April. During Clayton's spring break we stayed in a cabin with some friends for almost a week and had a great time. Here are the pictures of the way home.

We saw orchard after orchard, the raisin places and all sorts of fruit plantations if you know what I mean. It unfortunately was really hot. Our air conditioning was broken and I thought I was going to die. But don't worry. It's fixed now. Yay! Thanks Dad!

We stopped at the Fresno temple and Anna was loving the flowers.
