I finally got my Loupes

Okay so I finally got my Loupes and Hailey made me blog them. As you can imagine they cost us a pretty penny (thank you student loans). I know they are super dorky, but they are light and comfortable. They should really help my work in the lab, and lets just say my back is going to be VERY happy!

San Juan Capistrano

So this month AYUDA was in San Juan Capistrano (So. Orange County) and Hailey decided to come with me. AYUDA is an organization through USC where students go to different places across So. Cal. to do free dental work. Above Hailey is holding the light while I am attempting to diagnose this kid. And she holds the light so well doesn't she, "Could I get a little light please?"

After AYUDA we walked over to the mission. It was beautiful and the grounds were awesome, ie the flower above.

This is the courtyard surrounded by the dormatories and other rooms in the mission.

Apparently the indians lived in these huts in a different courtyard.

I really have no idea what this statue is. What is that priest doing to that poor indian?

The ruins in the background are where the church used to stand. It was destroyed in an earthquake that killed a bunch of people.

Sunday trip to the tide pools

So it's a really weird picture of me but oh well.

You can't really tell in the picture but the sign says private property, keep out. Ha!

Cody introduced us to the sea cucumber.

Then the sea aneminy? Ok so I have no idea how to spell it. But is was cool.

Don't askThen we both got in some fun photos (I just looked at this after I published it and the pictures look pathetic, so one day you'll have to see them larger and in full color like they look on my computer screen.

Of course we took more but I highly doubt everyone wants to see all of them. Maybe if you come visit us.

And it finally arrived!

So I bought these strawberry plants a long time ago and only 2 out of six survived and there are finally real strawberries growing on one of the them and the other is getting close. if you look close you can see another one on it's way up and to the left of the ripe one. It is still white. Oh, the simple joys in life.

Newport/ Balboa Island

So we had the amazing opportunity to stay in a beach house right on the sand this last weekend. It was awesome. So much fun!!! Thank you!

Yeah, Clayton lost his wedding ring in the sand we searched forever, we finally found out that the lifeguards down at the station have metal detectors. Then we finally found it. Thank heavens.

Happy Valentine's Day!

My husband loves me!
Clayton surprised me with a dinner reservation to a restaurant we have been meaning to go to. It is a Tapas Bar called Bar Celona, and we enjoed some wonderful food from Spain. Clayton was in heaven.

Thank goodness for the weekends!

So our friends Brik and Ashley found a guide book to hikes around our area and we went exploring the weekend before last. It was awesome! Here is part of what we found.

So if you look really close you can see the people in the bottom right corner. We were standing right above the waterfall.
Then after we got home, some other friends called us up and we headed out to the beach to have a bonfire. We also had hobo dinners and smores. The beach we went to was right by LAX (the airport) so the airplane were all taking off right above our heads, it was awesome.
The guys (well before Anjuli and Brandon arrived).
The girls Enjoying our smores. Mmmmm

What a good day.

Bye Grandma, good luck on your mission, we'll miss you!!!!

Grandma Hillock is headed out tomorrow to Slovenia, with a short stop in Paris. She already speaks the language and is able to bear her testimony in Slovenian. She is so excited, she can barely hold it in. We will miss her dearly but we are so proud of her desire to serve the Lord.

Oranges!!!

Clayton's grandma has orange trees in her backyard so we took a few off her hands. They're delicious!!

The Hula Hoop

Ok, so this is the heaviest thickest hula hoop I have ever seen. Supposedly, it is supposed to "trim your waistline." It has grooves along the inside and I think it has actually bruised my rib cage and hip bones, but it sure is fun.
Tess had never tried it before and she was the pro, Vicky had been practicing the night before...
And then I was absolutely horrible, I had to jump back and forth just to keep the darn thing up. Oh, well, I get better each time.

Romney Rally for Super Tuesday!!!

Long Beach, California

Sorry the pitctures aren't quite in the right order. But here they are anyway.

Clayton found out that there was a Romney Rally at the Long Beach Airport, so we called up our friends Brik and Ashley, "Romney supporters" and we headed down to show our support.

After the speech we forced our way to the front of the crowd and all four of us were actually able to shake his hand. Clayton even spoke with him for a second. Ooooh, Aaaaah. It was very exciting and fun!

Here's Mitt when he first got there, he was handed his two month old newest grandson.

Clayton and Brik made "poor college student" signs.

Then a person on his campaign felt bad for us and handed me a real sign, I was thrilled.

Me and Ashley, waiting for him to arrive.

Go Romney!!!
