Segovia

We took the train out to Segovia where we had a taxi take us to our hotel.
Here are some views of the countryside from the train window.

Storks perched on top of every high post they could find

We were pretty exhausted from our traveling and Clayton's eyes were killing him from his weird allergies, so he slept across the chairs.  We sat up on the second floor of the train so I could have the view.  I couldn't sleep because I kept getting motion sick but it was an awesome experience to have so it was all worth it.

This is the train station in Segovia.  We have arrived!

We went straight to our hotel to drop off our stuff and then headed out on the town right away.  You can walk the whole town.

Here is a view of the place where Christopher Columbus was baptized from the castle walls.

The castle

They actually let you tour this castle so we went everywhere inside it.  It was seriously the coolest thing ever.  This is the mote.

Ancient armor stuff

The courtyard in the middle

Kids armor

The ceilings were amazing

The mote again.

View of the cathedral from the top of the castle

The countryside was beautiful.  I want to live here.  I am super jealous that Clayton served his mission in this city.

The Suckling Pig

Clayton was obsessed with the suckling pig.

I had duck with cheese and applesauce.  It was great.  I just couldn't stomach the thought of those little hairs poking up on my food.  Maybe when I don't have such a sensitive stomach.

Our restaurant was super amazing, and actually famous.  The chef cuts the pig with a plate and then throws it on the floor.  But he only did that downstairs and we ate upstairs with the view of the aqueduct.

Then we walked outside up and over the aqueduct.
The Romans built it around the time of Christ and it is still standing and had water in it up until a couple years ago.

We got pastries in the Plaza Mayor and walked past the cathedral at night.  Best date ever!!!

Daytime picture of the aqueduct and our restaurant right next to it. Also weird protesters were having political rallies in each city the whole time we were there. Crazy kids.

Our hotel

Clayton dropped his sunglasses right down this hole.  Oops.  Luckily they survived the fall.

We had a little bay window that opened up to this amazing view.  No screens, just clear Segovian air.
Next time, I'm going to just Segovia for a whole month.  It's Decided.
